Antilope doubles its cardboard division

Antilope Cardboard Solutions, the cardboard packaging division of the Antilope Group, is taking over the business of the Zaventem-based cardboard producer Darco. With this acquisition Antilope doubles the capacity of its own cardboard division. This operation enriches Antilope with new know-how, so that its offering in cardboard packaging is now complete. This expansion is one of the reasons for the impending changes on the Antilope site, located alongside the motorway ring in Lier, where a new building is being commissioned and a number of product and traffic flows are being optimised.

Antilope Cardboard Solutions has been active on the packaging cardboard market since 2007. Its competences were built up systematically and the growth forecasts were achieved every year. With the current operation, in a single stroke the company becomes a major player with a complete offer in the finishing of cardboard packagings.
Thanks to the packaging know-how of the Darco company, Antilope Cardboard Solutions is adding a number of products to its line, such as longitudinal glued-seam boxes, autolock (self-closing bottom), four and six-point glued boxes, bottle carriers, display baskets and much more. Antilope Cardboard Solutions will be taking this opportunity to further optimise the production preparation (including 3D design). Additional machines are being commissioned for finishing and refinement. Henceforth coated boxes will also be produced (i.e. boxes in corrugated board, glued with a printed sheet of paper).
Marc Binnemans, CEO of the Antilope Group: “The expansion is complementary to the offer we have had up to now, so we can now concentrate on markets where we had little if any presence until now. I’m thinking for example of drink packagings, and of the geographical market of Wallonia. All of this will also entail an expansion of our employment: we are considering the addition of eight to ten full-time jobs.”
